CIA FIRST Graduate awarded Scholarship to US Air Force Academy
In June we learned that Chanyuthea Nu, a CIA FIRST International School graduate, will make history by being the first Cambodian National to be accepted into the US Air Force Academy. Funded by the US Government, Yuthea will leave Cambodia on the 17th of June of this year to begin his scholarship, a BA, in Aerospace Engineering.
In a selection process that involves the cooperation between the US embassy and the National Defence University of Cambodia, four Cambodian Nationals are nominated by the US Embassy for further consideration for the program. Application and examination at the National Defense University is a lengthy process which includes completion of a general knowledge exam, English language exam, and a candidate fitness assessment.
Yuthea, reflecting on the exciting challenge ahead, said “I tried very hard for 9 months with the application and assessment period to get this scholarship so it’s really valuable to me. The strict and rigorous requirements of this scholarship application need applicants to be highly committed. My parents were very happy to hear the news as they know how valuable this scholarship opportunity is. They always advise me to see failure as a stepping stone to success. I did it and it brought me to where I am now. Also, the CIA FIRST International School curriculum really matches the requirements of the scholarship, especially maths and AP courses.”
