Alumni Feature: Ratanak M. (Class of 2025)

Ratanak M. is one of two early graduates from the CIA FIRST Chbar Ampov campus, marking a significant milestone as part of the first batch to graduate from the high school program at this campus. As he pursues a cybersecurity degree at Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, Ratanak’s journey is one of ambition and a strong sense of purpose to bring his knowledge back home.

“I would love to come back to my home country and provide a safe digital environment for my people so that their businesses can prosper without having to worry about internet safety, cyber crimes, or threats,” he shares. Ratanak’s goal reflects his deep commitment to his community, and he envisions a future where Cambodian businesses can thrive in a secure online world.

Reflecting on how CIA FIRST helped shape his path, Ratanak credits his experiences at the Chbar Ampov campus with preparing him for this next chapter. “CIA FIRST International School helped me a lot with my high school career through the curriculum it provides, such as the AP classes, the CSP subject, and especially the 16 HoMs that helped shape me as an individual.” These elements, he explains, gave him a strong academic foundation and a deeper understanding of the world, which are essential for his work in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.

As one of the early graduates from the CIA FIRST Chbar Ampov campus, Ratanak’s story is one of pioneering spirit. He takes pride in his role in shaping the school’s legacy. When asked about advice for current students, Ratanak encourages them to embrace the journey. “Stop taking everything too seriously because you only live once, so try to enjoy every moment as much as possible before it all fades away.” His words speak to the importance of finding a balance between ambition and appreciating the present.

Ratanak’s favorite quote, “Don’t worry too much, the universe will always have its ways,” encapsulates his calm and optimistic outlook on life. As he moves on to university and beyond, he carries with him the lessons from CIA FIRST Chbar Ampov, equipped to create a safer digital future for Cambodia.
